We have enjoyed visiting many national monuments. Hyrum liked this one lots because it was a volcano!! We walked several paths and saw lots of rock from millions of years ago.
This is the softer parts of the rocks. They said there is lots of growth in this area and we were to not step off the path because it could ruin natural growth.
This is a zoom in of the actual volcano...we think anyway!
Then next stop was in Wupatki National Monument. This was really cool. We were driving in the middle of no where and all of a sudden you come upon this Indian house.
Then we went to another Indian house except this one was a mansion! It had over 100 rooms.
This is the community room where the Indians celebrated.
And this is the ball court.
Just amazing. These two monuments are only 20 miles from our house. Its been so great to learn more history in this area and to see how these people lived.
