And boy was it Grand!!! Its amazing to see all of Heavenly Fathers creations. It was breathtaking.
Me and the boys are trying to show everyone how Grand it is. HUGE...it just seems to go on forever.
You can tell in this picture that its an opening to a mining shaft. When people came to mine in the grand canyon it actually was very harmful to the natural surroundings. So there is some history we were able to read up on and learn. I had no idea that people tried to mine in the Grand Canyon!
We had lots of fun comments about the boys' doggy hats. The whole time Adam was in character...doggy through and through. He was barking, licking, and crawling on all fours!
This picture you can see the "chocolate milk" Colorado river. At least that what my boys thought it looked like.
We took several buses to different stops along the way. We walked to some stops and rode to some. The boys had fun riding on the bus. We even met another Boise State fan on the bus. That was fun for Mike.
The last stop at the very top was called Hermits Rest. It used to be an old motel that people could stop for the night and rest before they continued the rest of their trip through the Grand Canyon. It is now a cute little souvenir shop.
And of course along with all of the other National Monuments Hyrum earned another badge after completing his Jr. Ranger package.
