September Happenings!

Wow! So much has happened since we have moved. About a week after we moved in we had a fun and exciting scare! At 5:00 a.m. we had a loud pounding at the door. As I scramble out of bed and answer it I realized it was the police! They informed me that there was a fire in our building and we needed to get out. I ran to my room trying to figure out why Mike wasn't up yet when I realized he was already at work. I rush and grab the kids out of their beds. Adam was already screaming and I had to wake Hyrum up and I ran out. Luckily it was on the opposite side of the building so I was able to go back in and grab sweaters and shoes for all of us. Hyrum kept asking me so many questions and it was a good teaching experience about fire safety. It turns out that a lady had kept a candle going all night on a paper plate and it caught on fire. We were just so grateful we were on the opposite side of the building. After we went back in our apartment Hyrum insisted on watching "fireman Sam" (on netflix) and since its been his favorite show!

September also brought birthdays for us old folks. Mike turned 27 this year and I am now 25. It seems crazy how fast time is going. We didn't do too much for our birthdays but we really enjoyed having a special day for each of us. Our amazing friends, the Christensen's, invited us over for dinner and had a cake for me. It was so sweet. And it was my ALL time favorite kind of cake. Ya know, the kind with the thick butter cream frosting from the bakery! Ya, its my favorite! I also attempted for the first time and ice cream cake roll with mint ice cream. Mike's favorite! It turned out quite well and it was alot easier than I thought.

Hyrum started preschool this year and he is such a big boy. We debated for quite some time about putting him in a real preschool or just having me do it at home. But after alot of thought we decided to go for it! I am SOOO glad we did it. He has already learned so much and is loving it. His teacher Ms. Kristie is amazing and it shows through her teaching.

One of Hyrums field trips included a walk to the chocolate shop for "C" week.
Him and his favorite buddy Matthew! Its funny...with Hyrums "silly hat." Whenever Hyrum wears his hat we get so many compliments or just people looking and chatting. Lots of people ask where I got the hat and my response, "A KOA campground in Wyoming!" Pretty funny.
Here the lady is letting all the kids try all the kinds of chocolate. They did dark, milk, and white chocolate. She even let us moms have a taste. :) And at the end each kid got to pick out a $1.00 treat to take home.
